Robert (Bob)'s Story
Life
Wow...I left Shelton (vowing never to return) in the fall of '66 for Olympic College..in a spur of the moment, I joined the Army in December '66. A year stationed at Ft. Devens near Boston before (helicopter) Flight School in Texas and Alabama, followed by a year in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Off active duty in '71, but continued to fly in the Washington Army National Guard out of Ft. Lewis.. retired as a CW5 in November '99 as the 66th Aviation Brigade Safety Officer.
My civilian side involved working for the Washington State Patrol as a (non-commissioned) communications officer while I attended college, graduating from St. Martin's in '74, and an MPA from City College in '79. I continued working f...Expand for more
or the state in DSHS while I was looking for a "real job", finally retiring from DSHS in July '99.
Upon retirement, I bought a place on a small lake near Shelton, got remarried to Joyce, and have been working on old cars, riding my Harley, falling behind on "honey-do's", playing some really bad golf (good thing COSTCO sells golf balls).
Medical challenges aside, life is very good. Seven grandkids...I know that's probably not even close to a record...I think some of my classmates may have a great-grandchild by now...
I look forward to our 40th high school class reunion next August and would enjoy hearing from any of you from Shelton, or Stadium High School in Tacoma.
